December 01, 2006Announcing Lia Na-FeiAt long last, we are thrilled to present our beautiful daughter, Fu Na Fei, born April 9, 2006 in Jiangxi Province (map). No one was more surprised than we were to get a phone call from our adoption agency today. We were not expecting our referral until next month, because the cut-off date this month was September 8/05, well before our log-in date of September 14/05. Her referral photos were taken four months ago, when she was about four months old. At that time, she weighed 6.3 kg (14 pounds) and was 62 cm long (24.4 inches). Fu is her surname, shared with all adopted children from this region. Her given name is Na Fei (pronounced Nah Fay). We have chosen to christen her Lia, which means "Bearer of good news." But until our adoption is finalized, we will call her by her Chinese name, Na Fei. We learned that Na Fei is active, restless, and quick in her reactions, likes toys and games, enjoys listening to music, has a ready smile, and likes to laugh, as you can see in her photos. She's going to be a handful! We expect to travel to China in mid to late February, after the Chinese New Year on February 18. We can't wait to have Na Fei in our arms!
