Bittersweet Birthday

This morning Lia opened her brother's presents.

At lunch we put together his care package to send to Lianyungang.

Tonight we will sing "Happy Birthday" and blow out the candles on his cake. Han Kun will be eating cake too: we sent one to the orphanage for the occasion.

We are sad to be away from Han Kun at this special time, and sad to think of his Chinese mama and baba, who are no doubt missing him too.

But we are happy to celebrate his birth, and look forward to seeing him soon. We are still waiting for our Letter Seeking Confirmation, which should come by year's end. In the meantime, we talk and dream and prepare. Happy day, little one!
