Quotidian: Driving home from Mandarin lessons

Lia practising her Mandarin on the way home from school. With daily lessons and after-school tutoring, her Mandarin has progressed by leaps and bounds. She is now reading and writing dozens of characters, and in the video she’s reading from her lesson book. She adores her teacher and is very self-motivated; she’s even taking her books along with her to the pool to practise!

Here’s what our view has been like for most of the day.

2011: The year we sold (almost) everything and hit the road

Travel has a way of distorting time like nothing else. It’s been nearly six months since we left our home in Ottawa. In many ways, the days have flown by. In that time, we’ve travelled in six countries on two continents, lived in two apartments, and visited with many family and friends, meeting new friends on the road. I feel like I’ve blinked and we’re now in 2012.
